BMW i7 Facelift Gets 728km Range and New Tech
BMW has launched the facelifted BMW i7 in India with a substantially upgraded electric drivetrain, a redesigned luxury cabin and technology borrowed from the company's Neue Klasse generation. The biggest change for buyers is the new i7 50 xDrive, which combines 455 hp with a 112.5 kWh battery and a claimed WLTP range of up to 728 km.
The facelift also brings the high-performance BMW i7 M70 xDrive to India, with 680 hp, up to 1,100 Nm of torque and a claimed WLTP range of 686 km. Both versions add a new Panoramic iDrive interface, while the rear compartment continues to put limousine-style comfort and entertainment at the centre of the i7 experience.
BMW i7 Facelift: What's New?
The BMW i7 facelift is more than a cosmetic update. BMW has revised the exterior design, completely reworked the cabin's digital interface and upgraded the electric powertrain technology underneath.
The new front end introduces BMW's latest luxury design language, centred around the illuminated Iconic Glow Kidney Grille and available BMW Individual crystal headlights with diamond-cut Swarovski crystal elements.
The front also receives a larger matte-finished BMW badge and cleaner body-coloured surfaces. At the rear, newly designed slim tail-lights stretch further across the rear section, while the M Sport treatment adds a high-gloss black diffuser.
BMW has retained the large, formal proportions of the 7 Series family, but the facelift gives the i7 a more technology-focused appearance that ties it more closely to the brand's newer products.
BMW i7 Facelift Gets a Completely New Cabin Interface
The biggest transformation takes place inside. The facelift introduces BMW Panoramic iDrive with BMW Operating System X, bringing a new display architecture to the flagship electric sedan.
The system combines BMW Panoramic Vision, a 17.9-inch central display and a 14.6-inch passenger screen. Panoramic Vision projects information across the lower section of the windscreen, allowing selected widgets to be positioned within the driver's field of view.
The central display uses a 3,340 x 1,440-pixel resolution, while the passenger screen has Full HD resolution. BMW says the passenger display can automatically darken when the interior camera detects that the driver is looking towards it.

For the rear passengers, the i7 continues to offer an exceptionally technology-heavy environment. The 31.3-inch 8K BMW Theatre Screen extends from the roof, while the Bowers & Wilkins Diamond Surround Sound System with Dolby Atmos is designed to create a cinema-like experience.
Executive Lounge seating is also available for the rear compartment, with electrically adjustable positioning and a reclining angle of up to 43 degrees. The Sky Lounge panoramic glass roof can additionally be specified with an illuminated pattern using more than 40 LEDs.
BMW i7 50 xDrive: 728km Claimed Range
The new BMW i7 50 xDrive replaces the previous rear-wheel-drive i7 eDrive50 in the Indian range. It now uses all-wheel drive and a larger 112.5 kWh battery.
BMW quotes a maximum system output of 455 hp and 660 Nm of torque. The electric sedan can accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in 5.5 seconds and has a top speed of 210 km/h.

The 728 km figure is a WLTP claim rather than a guaranteed real-world driving distance. Actual range will depend on factors such as driving style, road conditions, temperature, equipment and load.
BMW i7 M70 xDrive Gets 680hp
The performance flagship is the BMW i7 M70 xDrive. It uses two electric motors and produces 680 hp, making it the most powerful version of the 7 Series according to BMW.
System torque stands at 1,015 Nm in Sport mode and can rise to 1,100 Nm when Launch Control with M-specific effects or Sport Boost is activated. BMW quotes a 0–100 km/h time of 3.8 seconds and a top speed of 250 km/h.
The M70 uses the upgraded battery technology and has a claimed WLTP range of 686 km.

BMW i7 Facelift Charging Time
The upgraded i7 supports DC fast charging at up to 250 kW. BMW states that a 10–80 percent DC charging session takes 28 minutes.
The company also claims that 235 km of additional range can be added in 10 minutes under its specified high-power charging conditions.
For home charging, the i7 supports up to 22 kW AC charging. BMW quotes approximately six hours for a full charge from 0 to 100 percent and includes a BMW Wallbox charger with the i7 and i7 M70.
BMW i7 Facelift Price in India
BMW has launched two i7 variants in India. The new BMW i7 50 xDrive M Sport is priced at ₹1.95 crore ex-showroom, while the BMW i7 M70 xDrive costs ₹2.65 crore ex-showroom.

The prices are ex-showroom and exclude applicable road tax, TCS, RTO charges, local levies and insurance. BMW states that the price prevailing at the time of invoicing will apply.
BMW i7 Facelift India Production and Deliveries
The new BMW i7 50 xDrive is now locally produced at BMW Group's Chennai plant. BMW says India has become only the second country after Germany where the i7 is locally produced.
The range-topping i7 M70 xDrive will be sold as a completely built-up unit.
Bookings are open through BMW India dealerships, with deliveries scheduled to commence from October 2026.
Why the BMW i7 Facelift Matters
The most important change is arguably not the extra power. BMW has used the facelift to bring its latest digital interface and software architecture into its flagship electric sedan.
The new Panoramic iDrive gives the i7 a direct connection to BMW's next-generation technology direction, while the larger battery materially improves the headline range of the i7 50 xDrive compared with the outgoing model.
For buyers, the choice is also becoming clearer. The i7 50 xDrive prioritises long-distance electric travel and flagship comfort, while the M70 adds substantially stronger performance without abandoning the rear-seat luxury focus that defines the 7 Series.
What Remains Important to Know
The quoted 728 km range applies to the i7 50 xDrive under the WLTP test cycle and should not be interpreted as a guaranteed everyday range. Real-world results will vary.
Similarly, the extensive equipment list can vary according to specification and options. Buyers should confirm the exact equipment and configuration available for the vehicle they are ordering with BMW India.

The i7 50 xDrive is the more important version for most luxury EV buyers because its 728 km WLTP claim directly addresses long-distance usability while retaining the flagship cabin experience. The M70, meanwhile, takes the concept in a very different direction, combining 680 hp and up to 1,100 Nm with Executive Lounge-style rear-seat luxury.
At ₹1.95 crore for the i7 50 xDrive and ₹2.65 crore for the M70, this remains a highly exclusive proposition. But as a technology-led facelift, the new BMW i7 shows that BMW is using its flagship electric sedan not merely as a luxury product, but also as a bridge between today's 7 Series and the company's next generation of software and interface technology.
