Turin, Italy - Ducati and the National Automobile Museum of Turin (MAUTO) have teamed up to celebrate the life and legacy of Formula 1 legend Ayrton Senna, marking a unique collaboration that merges the world of motorsports and motorcycling. The tribute is part of the “Ayrton Senna Forever” exhibition at MAUTO, which is open until November 3, 2024.

Ducati Monster Senna: A Limited Edition Tribute to a Motorsport Legend

The Ducati Monster Senna is a collector's item and a tribute to the three-time Formula 1 World Champion. Limited to just 341 units, this special edition is a nod to Senna's career achievements: 3 World Titles and 41 Grand Prix wins. The Monster Senna was officially launched in May 2024 during the F1 Grand Prix at Imola, where it sold out in just hours—a pattern seen with previous Ducati models created in honor of Senna.

The Monster Senna is a symbol of Ducati's commitment to excellence and innovation, combining cutting-edge technology with a sleek design. Its livery, inspired by Senna's iconic helmet, features vibrant yellow, green, and blue accents—a direct tribute to the colors of the Brazilian flag and the racing driver's legacy.

The Connection Between Ayrton Senna and Ducati

Ayrton Senna's love for Ducati motorcycles is well-documented. The Brazilian champion was among the first owners of the Ducati Monster 900, using it to navigate the streets of Monte Carlo during the early 1990s. His personal connection to the Monster model is reflected in the design of the Monster Senna, which incorporates the same spirit of simplicity, fun, and high-performance that Senna admired.

The Monster motorcycle, known for its light weight, compact design, and exceptional riding experience, remains a quintessential Ducati. The Monster Senna version stays true to these qualities while adding performance upgrades, including:

  • Testastretta 11° engine: A liquid-cooled, 4-valve, twin-cylinder engine that delivers 111 horsepower.
  • Superbike-derived chassis: Lightweight, sporty frame for enhanced handling.
  • Brembo braking system: Advanced braking performance with aluminium flanges and front calipers.
  • Fully adjustable suspension: To offer a tailored riding experience.
  • Forged rims: For reduced weight and increased strength.

The Monster Senna continues Ducati's tradition of creating motorcycles that balance sportiness and road-friendly usability. The bike's performance is designed to be both thrilling and accessible, making it suitable for everyday rides as well as more spirited outings.

The “Senna and Ducati: When Legends Meet” Talk

To further explore the powerful connection between Ayrton Senna and Ducati, MAUTO hosted a special event on October 17, 2024. The Senna Talk titled “Senna and Ducati: When Legends Meet” featured insights from Livio Lodi, Curator of the Ducati Museum, and Lorenzo Corghi, Brand & Design Project Manager at Ducati. The talk delved into the shared passion for performance and excellence that linked the legendary driver with the iconic motorcycle manufacturer.

Monster Series and Customization Options

Alongside the Monster Senna, Ducati offers a wide range of Monster models, including the Monster, Monster+, and Monster SP. These models can be personalized through Ducati's new online configurator, which allows riders to tailor their bike to their preferences. The Monster family is also available in a 35 kW depowered version, perfect for riders with an A2 license.

Riders interested in the Ducati Monster series can schedule a test ride at their local dealership, with booking available directly through the official Ducati website.

Conclusion

Ducati's collaboration with MAUTO is a fitting tribute to Ayrton Senna, whose passion for speed and precision transcended both Formula 1 and motorcycles. The Monster Senna serves as a lasting reminder of his legacy and his enduring connection with Ducati. For motorsport fans and motorcycle enthusiasts alike, the Ayrton Senna Forever exhibition and the limited-edition Monster Senna are must-see tributes to one of the greatest legends in racing history.
