Hero MotoCorp has expanded its presence in the premium motorcycle sector with the launch of the all-new Xtreme 160R 4V alongside the refreshed Xtreme 250R. Debuting from New Delhi, this dual release forms a central pillar of the manufacturer's premiumisation strategy, targeting entry-level and quarter-litre streetfighter segments across the country. Through these updates, the company seeks to attract younger riders wanting higher performance, distinctive styling, and advanced rider assistance features.

The Xtreme 160R 4V undergoes a comprehensive generation change that builds on its initial 2023 debut, adopting a totally revised design language and introducing several segment-first technologies. Concurrently, the updated Xtreme 250R brings track-inspired mechanical components and chassis refinements to the competitive 250cc space. Both machines are positioned to strengthen Hero's footprint across its retail networks, including the premium Hero Premia chain, which spans more than 130 stores nationwide.

Exterior Styling, Platform and Dimensions

The all-new Xtreme 160R 4V introduces Hero's "Cybersharp" styling direction. The design language incorporates sharper tank shrouds, revised bodywork, and an aggressive stance designed to convey big-bike presence. The ergonomically sculpted fuel tank is contoured to improve knee grip while maintaining an accessible ground reach. An Advanced Lighting Package provides full LED illumination, highlighted by an auto-illuminating Class D headlight paired with an ambient light sensor, projector high beam, signature "H"-shaped daytime running lights, an "H"-shaped LED tail lamp, and full LED winkers. Hero offers red and black front wheel rim selections to allow cosmetic personalization, alongside a seat that has been extended by 16 mm to a total length of 642.9 mm, available in both single and split configurations.

For the refreshed Xtreme 250R, styling focuses on streetfighter aggression and mechanical detailing. The motorcycle features gold-anodised front forks, hydro-dipped carbon-fibre panels, revised graphics, coloured wheel rims with rim tapes, and raised embossing. Visible "FSD" branding marks the rear damper, while Hero incorporates more than 50 fit-and-finish upgrades across the machine, such as braided cables and a new swingarm tail cover. Underneath the body panels sits a rigid steel trellis frame.

Powertrain, Performance and Specifications

The Xtreme 160R 4V runs an updated 163cc, 4-valve, oil-cooled single-cylinder engine that benefits from a short-stroke configuration and a finned oil cooler. Output figures reach 17.1 PS at 8,750 rpm and 14.6 Nm of torque at 6,500 rpm. The powertrain accelerates the bike from 0 to 60 km/h in 4.4 seconds, which Hero claims makes it the fastest in its displacement bracket alongside providing the best rear-wheel power output in class. Scheduled maintenance includes extended service intervals, requiring no oil changes or tappet adjustments until 6,000 km.

The larger Xtreme 250R relies on a 250cc liquid-cooled, 4-valve DOHC single-cylinder engine delivering 30 PS at 9,250 rpm and 25.3 Nm of torque at 7,500 rpm, establishing the highest torque figure in the 250cc category. It accelerates from 0 to 60 km/h in 3.2 seconds. Power transmission on the 250R is enhanced by a sensorless bi-directional quickshifter that permits clutchless upshifts and downshifts without rolling off the throttle.

Cabin, Infotainment and Interior Technology

Both models feature updated digital interfaces and rider conveniences. The Xtreme 160R 4V incorporates an auto-adjusting brightness TFT display showing the active ride mode, gear position with shift advisory, cruise control status, distance to empty, and real-time fuel efficiency. Integrated Bluetooth provides phone battery readouts, turn-by-turn navigation, music playback control, and alerts for incoming calls and text messages. Riders also get illuminated soft-touch switchgear, an integrated kill-start switch, cruise control buttons, hazard light triggers, a Type-C fast-charging port, and 5-step adjustable clutch and front brake levers.

The refreshed Xtreme 250R is equipped with a full-colour TFT instrument cluster that adds performance metrics, including an integrated lap timer and drag timer. It retains Bluetooth smartphone connectivity for turn-by-turn navigation, communication notifications, and battery status. Its soft-touch switchgear features dedicated buttons for selecting rider aids, operating the hazard lamps, and engaging the segment-first cruise control system.

Trims, Safety Suite and Availability

The electronic suites differ according to the displacement bracket. The Xtreme 160R 4V relies on ride-by-wire throttle management enabling Rain, Road, and Sport modes, alongside segment-first cruise control. Braking hardware consists of dual-channel ABS operating on a 276 mm petal front disc and a 220 mm petal rear disc. It also adds a segment-first Panic Brake Alert system that flashes signals to trailing motorists during heavy braking. The suspension setup utilizes 37 mm KYB upside-down front forks and a 7-step preload-adjustable rear shock, rolling on radial tubeless tyres with a 130/70 R17 rear profile.

The Xtreme 250R features four ride modes: Rain, Road, Sport, and Track. It introduces traction control, cruise control, a Tyre Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS) displaying real-time pressure and temperature with colour-coded alerts, and industry-first Frequency Selective Damping (FSD) on the rear shock. This FSD unit utilizes an auxiliary internal piston to produce twin rebound damping profiles. The front end is supported by 43 mm upside-down forks.

Bookings for both streetfighters open on October 17, 2026, with customer deliveries scheduled to commence on November 1, 2026. The Xtreme 160R 4V is available across Hero MotoCorp and Hero Premia dealerships in three variants at introductory ex-showroom Delhi prices: Standard at Rs. 1,27,000, Pro at Rs. 1,37,000, and Carbon at Rs. 1,41,000. The refreshed Xtreme 250R comes in Carbon Red, Carbon White, and Carbon Black colorways at an introductory price of Rs. 1,98,000 ex-showroom Delhi, sold exclusively through Hero Premia outlets.

AkulRide Verdict

Hero MotoCorp has addressed previous equipment gaps in the entry-sport category by loading the all-new Xtreme 160R 4V and refreshed Xtreme 250R with high-end electronic features. Introducing cruise control to the 160cc bracket, alongside ride-by-wire across both bikes and FSD suspension on the 250cc model, sets a strong engineering precedent against established rivals. Retaining competitive price points while backing distribution through both traditional outlets and the expanding Hero Premia network gives Hero a practical foundation to capture buyers seeking modern tech at accessible figures.
