DRIVE PILOT, the highly automated driving system from Mercedes-Benz, has won one of the most prestigious awards in the automotive industry: the Golden Steering Wheel 2024.

The Auto Bild and Bild am Sonntag magazines have recognized DRIVE PILOT as the best innovation of the year, celebrating its significant contribution to the advancement of autonomous driving technology. The award was presented to Ola Källenius, CEO of Mercedes-Benz Group AG, at a gala ceremony held on November 7, 2024, at the Axel Springer-Haus in Berlin.

DRIVE PILOT represents a major step forward in the journey toward fully autonomous driving. The editorial team noted that with the updated version of DRIVE PILOT, Mercedes-Benz is taking significant strides in offering highly automated driving features that enhance safety and convenience for drivers.

At the award ceremony, Ola Källenius accepted the Golden Steering Wheel 2024, acknowledging the remarkable technological leap achieved with the new version of the system. This recognition places Mercedes-Benz in a leading position for the future of autonomous vehicles, further cementing its reputation as a global innovator in the automotive industry.

Earlier in September, Mercedes-Benz unveiled the latest version of DRIVE PILOT to select media at a press event, including representatives from Auto Bild and Bild am Sonntag. The new system is capable of following an advance driver on highways at speeds up to 95 km/h under certain conditions, offering customers even greater value and enhancing the driving experience with highly automated driving.
