Chevrolet has updated the Trailblazer for the 2027 model year in the United States, introducing a new Z71 trim, making the 1.3-litre turbocharged engine standard across the lineup and expanding its standard safety and driver-assistance features. The small SUV also gains updated interior details, new exterior colour options and Google built-in technology featuring Google Gemini.

The 2027 Chevrolet Trailblazer will be offered in three trims: LT, RS and Z71. Chevrolet says the updated SUV is expected to become available in late spring 2027, with further details on pricing to follow.

The changes are an update rather than a complete redesign. The addition of the Z71 is the main highlight, bringing standard all-wheel drive and hardware aimed at light off-road use to the Trailblazer range.

2027 Chevrolet Trailblazer Gets a Standard 1.3-Litre Turbo Engine

Chevrolet is discontinuing the turbocharged 1.2-litre engine offered in the previous model year and making the ECOTEC 1.3-litre turbocharged three-cylinder engine standard across the 2027 Trailblazer lineup.

The engine produces 155 horsepower and 174 lb-ft of torque. With this change, buyers choosing the LT, RS or Z71 will receive the same advertised engine output, simplifying the powertrain choices available across the range.

Normal, Sport and Snow drive modes are standard. Front-wheel drive remains available on the LT and RS, while all-wheel drive is standard on the new Z71 and can be specified on the other two trims.

Chevrolet lists towing capacity of up to 1,000 pounds, depending on the vehicle's configuration and equipment. Official fuel-economy figures for the 2027 model have not yet been detailed on the company's US webpage.

New Trailblazer Z71 Adds Off-Road-Oriented Equipment

The new Z71 is the biggest addition to the 2027 Chevrolet Trailblazer range. It combines standard all-wheel drive with suspension tuning intended for off-road driving, sport-terrain tyres and underbody protection.

  • Suspension: Off-road-oriented suspension tuning.
  • Underbody protection: A functional front steel skid plate.
  • Wheels and tyres: 17-inch Dark Gray machined aluminium wheels with sport-terrain tyres.
  • Exterior styling: Z71 badging and a distinctive appearance.
  • Interior: Jet Black and Storm Sky Gray upholstery and trim with contrasting Orange accents.
  • Drivetrain: All-wheel drive as standard.

The Z71 also receives debossed front-row headrests and standard dual exhaust outlets. While the hardware gives the Trailblazer a more adventure-focused configuration, Chevrolet has not presented it as a dedicated extreme off-road vehicle.

2027 Chevrolet Trailblazer LT, RS and Z71: Key Differences

Trim Drivetrain Key Features
LT Front-wheel drive; AWD available Standard 1.3-litre turbo engine, 11.3-inch infotainment touchscreen, 11-inch driver information display, fold-flat front passenger seat and active noise cancellation.
RS Front-wheel drive; AWD available 19-inch Carbon Flash Metallic machined aluminium wheels, red interior accents, heated flat-bottom steering wheel, black-painted roof rails and available two-tone roof.
Z71 AWD standard 17-inch wheels, sport-terrain tyres, off-road suspension tuning, front steel skid plate and orange interior accents.

The RS continues to target buyers who prefer sportier styling, while the LT focuses on everyday usability. The new Z71 adds a more rugged alternative without moving up to a larger Chevrolet SUV.

Sunrise Orange and Lagoon are the two new exterior colour options listed for the LT and Z71. Chevrolet has also discontinued the previous Cacti Green and Iridescent Pearl Tricoat colour choices for the 2027 Trailblazer.

Google Gemini and Updated Interior Technology

The 2027 Trailblazer retains a dual-display dashboard layout with an 11.3-inch central infotainment touchscreen and an 11-inch driver information display. Google built-in technology with Google Gemini compatibility adds conversational voice assistance for supported functions.

Chevrolet says the system can help occupants plan trips, summarise messages, answer questions and adjust vehicle settings using hands-free voice commands. Feature availability and functionality may depend on the applicable services and connectivity.

Wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are standard. Wireless phone charging is available, while OnStar Basics connectivity is included for eight years, according to Chevrolet's US product page. Supported services include connected vehicle functions, automatic crash response, navigation and access to in-vehicle applications.

The cabin also receives a redesigned centre console with retractable cupholders and additional storage flexibility. An available panoramic sunroof and heated seats and steering wheel add further convenience, depending on the chosen configuration.

Practical Cabin and Cargo Space

The 2027 Chevrolet Trailblazer continues to offer seating for up to five occupants, with 39 inches of rear legroom. Its two-row layout is designed to balance passenger space with the flexibility expected from a small SUV.

The rear seats feature a 60:40 split-folding arrangement, while the front passenger seat folds flat to accommodate longer items measuring up to 8.5 feet in length. Chevrolet lists maximum cargo capacity of 54.4 cubic feet with the appropriate seating configuration.

An AutoSense power liftgate is also available. These features help the Trailblazer handle everyday shopping, luggage and longer cargo without requiring a larger vehicle.

More Than 20 Standard Safety and Driver-Assistance Features

Chevrolet says the 2027 Trailblazer includes more than 20 standard safety and driver-assistance features across the US lineup. The expanded equipment list includes technologies intended to help drivers identify hazards, manage speed and manoeuvre in parking areas.

  • Collision prevention: Enhanced Automatic Emergency Braking, Intersection Automatic Emergency Braking and Forward Collision Alert.
  • Pedestrian and cyclist protection: Front Pedestrian and Bicyclist Braking and Side Bicyclist Alert.
  • Driving assistance: Adaptive Cruise Control and Lane Keep Assist with Lane Departure Warning.
  • Blind-spot and rear traffic assistance: Blind Zone Steering Assist, Lane Change Alert with Side Blind Zone Alert and Rear Cross Traffic Braking.
  • Parking assistance: Front and Rear Park Assist, Reverse Automatic Braking and an HD Rear Vision Camera.
  • Additional features: IntelliBeam automatic high beams, Safety Alert Seat, Teen Driver, Buckle to Drive, Rear Seat Reminder and a rear seat-belt indicator.

These systems are designed to support the driver rather than replace attention or safe driving practices. Actual feature operation remains subject to the vehicle's operating conditions and system limitations.

2027 Chevrolet Trailblazer Price and Availability

Chevrolet says the 2027 Trailblazer is expected to become available in the United States in late spring 2027. The company has not yet published a consistent, confirmed price list for the three trims.

There is a pricing discrepancy on Chevrolet's US webpage: its main banner currently displays a starting figure of $38,800, while the FAQ says pricing will be available in late spring 2027 and the individual trim prices remain placeholders. Chevrolet has not clarified this inconsistency, so the displayed figure should not be treated as confirmed launch pricing.

Final trim-level prices, EPA fuel-economy estimates and detailed configuration information remain important outstanding details ahead of the planned market introduction.

AkulRide Verdict

The 2027 Chevrolet Trailblazer brings meaningful equipment changes rather than a complete redesign. Making the 1.3-litre turbo engine standard simplifies the lineup, while the new Z71 adds standard all-wheel drive, sport-terrain tyres and underbody protection for buyers who want a more adventure-oriented small SUV.

The expanded standard safety equipment and Google Gemini-enabled technology also strengthen the Trailblazer's appeal as an everyday vehicle. However, its overall competitiveness will depend on final pricing, fuel economy and how the different trims compare with rival small SUVs when they reach dealerships.

For now, the new Z71 is the most notable development in the 2027 Trailblazer range. With availability planned for late spring 2027, buyers will need to wait for confirmed pricing and final specifications before making a full value-for-money comparison.
