BYD has unveiled the ATTO 8, a new flagship seven-seat electric SUV, at the 2026 Paris Motor Show. The full-size electric SUV introduces the company's FLASH Charging technology and second-generation Blade Battery to its European lineup, combining three-row seating with a claimed WLTP range of up to 405 miles (652 km).

Announced on October 12, 2026, the BYD ATTO 8 will be available in rear-wheel-drive and all-wheel-drive versions when sales begin in European markets in the first quarter of 2027. Its 115 kWh battery supports charging from 10% to 97% in nine minutes under the manufacturer's stated conditions.

The ATTO 8 sits at the top of BYD's SUV range and combines long-distance capability with a spacious cabin, advanced infotainment and comfort features for all three seating rows. Buyers will be able to choose between a range-focused rear-wheel-drive model and a more powerful all-wheel-drive version.

BYD ATTO 8 Flash Charging and 115 kWh Blade Battery

The ATTO 8 is the first BYD model in Europe to feature the company's second-generation Blade Battery and FLASH Charging technology. Its 115 kWh battery pack supports charging from 10% to 70% in five minutes and from 10% to 97% in nine minutes, according to BYD.

The charging system is also designed to maintain performance in extremely cold conditions. At temperatures as low as -30 degrees Celsius, BYD says the battery can charge from 20% to 97% in approximately 12 minutes. These figures are manufacturer claims and depend on the specified charging system and operating conditions.

BYD plans to expand its FLASH Charging infrastructure across Europe, targeting 3,000 charging stations by the end of 2027. The network expansion is intended to support the rollout of vehicles equipped with the technology and reduce charging stops on longer journeys.

Two Electric Versions with Different Performance Characteristics

BYD will offer the ATTO 8 in two configurations, with different motor arrangements and performance figures.

  • ATTO 8 Design RWD: The rear-wheel-drive version uses a single electric motor producing 340 kW (462 PS) and 365 Nm of torque. It accelerates from 0 to 62 mph in eight seconds and offers a claimed WLTP combined range of up to 405 miles (652 km).
  • ATTO 8 Excellence AWD: The all-wheel-drive version adds a front motor, increasing combined output to 570 kW (775 PS) and torque to 775 Nm. It accelerates from 0 to 62 mph in 4.6 seconds, while the claimed WLTP combined range is up to 374 miles (602 km).

Both versions use the same 115 kWh battery. The difference in their claimed range reflects the balance between efficiency and the additional performance provided by the dual-motor all-wheel-drive setup.

Large Seven-Seat SUV with Practical Luggage Space

The BYD ATTO 8 measures 5,040 mm in length, 1,996 mm in width and 1,760 mm in height. These dimensions place it firmly in the full-size SUV category, while its three-row layout accommodates seven occupants.

The luggage compartment offers 270 litres of capacity with all three seating rows in use. Folding the second and third rows increases the maximum luggage capacity to 1,960 litres. The SUV also includes a 136-litre front storage compartment, commonly known as a frunk.

A 2.39-square-metre panoramic glass roof helps bring natural light into the cabin. BYD has also incorporated adjustable headrests for the third-row seats, a separate rear air-conditioning control panel and standard three-zone climate control.

Interior Technology and Comfort Features

The ATTO 8 features a 15.6-inch central infotainment touchscreen, a 10.25-inch digital instrument panel and a 26-inch widescreen head-up display. The infotainment system includes Google built-in, providing access to Google Maps, Google Assistant and Google Play applications.

Both versions receive heated, ventilated and massage-equipped front seats. The outer seats in the second row also offer heating, ventilation and massage functions, extending these comfort features beyond the front occupants.

All seats are upholstered in genuine leather, according to BYD. The third row receives adjustable headrests, while a rear climate control panel allows passengers to manage cabin temperature independently of the front occupants.

Audio equipment differs between the two versions. The Design RWD comes with a 10-speaker sound system, while the Excellence AWD receives a 21-speaker DiSound audio setup. Other features include a front refrigerator capable of cooling to -6 degrees Celsius or heating to 50 degrees Celsius, dual 50W wireless smartphone chargers and USB Type-C charging ports for front and rear occupants.

European Launch Timeline and Pricing

BYD has confirmed that the ATTO 8 will go on sale in European markets in the first quarter of 2027. The company has not announced country-specific retail prices in its Paris Motor Show release.

The model will join BYD's existing European SUV lineup, which includes the ATTO 2, ATTO 3, SEALION 5 and SEAL U. Its combination of a large battery, seven-seat accommodation and rapid charging is intended to strengthen the brand's offering in the full-size electric SUV segment.

The ATTO 8 was one of the headline vehicles at BYD's Paris Motor Show stand. The company also displayed the SHARK DMO plug-in hybrid pickup ahead of its planned European rollout, alongside several other electric and hybrid vehicles.

What Remains to Be Confirmed

  • Pricing: Retail prices and equipment packages for individual European countries have not yet been announced.
  • Charging network access: BYD has set a target of 3,000 FLASH Charging stations across Europe by the end of 2027. Availability and coverage will depend on the network's rollout.
  • Real-world range: The quoted WLTP figures are test-cycle results. Independent real-world range and charging assessments will provide a clearer picture of everyday performance.

AkulRide Verdict

The BYD ATTO 8 combines a 115 kWh second-generation Blade Battery with a seven-seat cabin, a claimed range of up to 405 miles and FLASH Charging designed to replenish the battery from 10% to 97% in nine minutes. Its two powertrain options also give buyers a choice between longer claimed range and stronger acceleration from the all-wheel-drive version.

The charging figures are the headline attraction, but the ATTO 8 also stands out for its luggage flexibility, second-row comfort features and technology-rich interior. Its success in Europe will depend on country-specific pricing, the pace of FLASH Charging network development and real-world efficiency. With sales scheduled to begin in early 2027, the ATTO 8 is a significant addition to BYD's expanding electric SUV range.
