DS Automobiles has unveiled the DS F3VER Concept, an all-electric design study that previews a new direction for the French premium brand. Presented at the 2026 Paris Motor Show, the concept combines compact dimensions, a distinctive lighting signature and extensive personalisation options with a focus on everyday practicality.

Designed and developed entirely in-house, the DS F3VER explores three main themes: desirability, personalisation and freedom of use. It measures 4.19 metres long and features a 2.70-metre wheelbase, while its 400-litre boot is intended to provide useful luggage space without requiring a larger vehicle footprint.

DS Automobiles describes the F3VER as a full-scale design laboratory rather than a confirmed production model. The concept also introduces a design philosophy called Design Intelligence, which aims to simplify vehicle construction, reduce component numbers and improve perceived quality.

DS F3VER Concept Introduces a New Design Direction

The DS F3VER Concept features a sculpted body, taut lines and proportions designed to combine a compact footprint with a commanding appearance. Its exterior draws inspiration from fields including architecture, aeronautics and digital technology, giving the concept a distinctive visual identity.

At the front, a vertical illuminated element houses the DS emblem, flanked by distinctive Y-shaped lighting signatures. The arrangement creates a recognisable appearance in both daylight and darkness while departing from more conventional front-end designs.

The rear follows a similar design theme, with a vertical element incorporating a digitalised DS emblem at the centre of the bumper. The multidimensional rear lights create a tunnel-like visual effect using 16 LED panels supported by a lightweight magnesium structure. Its design takes inspiration from the vaulted roof of Paris's historic Grand Palais exhibition hall.

The rear lighting also incorporates user-experience animations. These can provide personalised lighting effects, support interaction between the vehicle and its surroundings, and communicate information to the user.

Design Intelligence Focuses on Simplicity and Efficiency

A central feature of the DS F3VER Concept is DS Automobiles' Design Intelligence philosophy. The approach aims to create a distinctive appearance with fewer components, simpler assemblies and cleaner surfaces. According to the manufacturer, this can help streamline development, reduce architectural complexity, optimise aerodynamics and improve perceived quality.

The concept demonstrates this philosophy through one-piece bumpers, integrated headlamp and daytime running light assemblies, and the removal of additional plastic cladding around the wheel arches and lower body.

DS Automobiles says digital design tools and artificial intelligence solutions developed by Stellantis support the process. These tools allow designers to explore and compare different proposals more quickly, leaving more time to refine selected ideas. The company emphasises that AI supports the creative process rather than replacing designers.

Thierry Metroz, DS Automobiles Design Director, said the concept explores new ways to use design for personalisation while developing a distinctive front-end identity and reducing the number of components.

Cosmic Blue Paint and Extensive Personalisation

Personalisation is another major element of the DS F3VER Concept. Its exterior features an exclusive Cosmic Blue dichroic paint finish that changes appearance according to the lighting, shifting between vivid blue and deep violet tones.

The two-tone bodywork extends beyond a conventional roof contrast. The dividing line between the colours continues towards the rear, incorporating the lights, tailgate, side sections and bumper. This treatment changes how the vehicle's proportions are perceived and creates additional opportunities for individual styling.

The concept also introduces a customisable roof surround, allowing the upper perimeter to become another personalisation feature. DS Automobiles presents this as part of a broader approach in which colour, materials, graphics and lighting work together to create an individual vehicle identity.

The wheels follow the same design philosophy, combining geometric forms with champagne-coloured details and Clous de Paris guilloché-style patterns. These elements reflect the brand's emphasis on detailed finishing and French-inspired craftsmanship.

Compact Dimensions and a 400-Litre Boot

The DS F3VER Concept measures 4.19 metres in length, 1.84 metres in width and 1.46 metres in height, according to the original announcement. Its 2.70-metre wheelbase is intended to create generous cabin space within relatively compact exterior dimensions.

DS Automobiles quotes a boot capacity of 400 litres, giving the concept a practical focus alongside its design-led approach. The manufacturer says the vehicle is intended to accommodate everyday journeys, longer trips, leisure activities and weekend getaways.

The concept is also described as an electric vehicle designed to offer class-leading range. However, DS Automobiles has not disclosed the battery capacity, motor output, charging performance or a numerical driving-range figure in the announcement. The range claim therefore cannot yet be assessed against specific rivals using comparable figures.

Will the DS F3VER Enter Production?

DS Automobiles has not confirmed a production version of the F3VER Concept, nor has it announced pricing, booking details or a commercial launch date. The concept is intended to communicate the brand's future design direction rather than announce a specific production vehicle.

Important technical details also remain undisclosed. These include battery capacity, electric motor specifications, drivetrain configuration, charging speeds and an official driving-range figure. Although DS describes the concept as combining compact dimensions with class-leading electric range, a numerical figure would be needed to evaluate that claim directly.

The concept's design approach, lighting treatments and personalisation features offer insight into the brand's future thinking, but DS Automobiles has not confirmed which individual elements will appear on forthcoming production models.

AkulRide Verdict

The DS F3VER Concept presents a distinctive vision for the future of DS Automobiles, combining compact proportions with premium design details, advanced lighting and extensive personalisation. Its 4.19-metre length, 2.70-metre wheelbase and 400-litre boot highlight the effort to balance everyday practicality with a design-led identity. The Design Intelligence philosophy is particularly notable because it links visual simplicity with manufacturing efficiency and perceived quality. However, the absence of battery, powertrain and numerical range details means its electric performance remains unquantified. For now, the F3VER is best viewed as a preview of DS Automobiles' evolving design philosophy rather than a confirmed production car.
