Honda has announced the Step Wgn e:HEV Spada Black Edition for the Japanese market, with sales scheduled to begin on October 16, 2026. Based on the sixth-generation Step Wgn e:HEV Spada, the new special edition adds black exterior accents, distinctive alloy wheels, interior detailing and additional comfort and safety equipment.

The Honda Step Wgn e:HEV Spada Black Edition is priced at ¥4,185,500, including Japan's 10% consumption tax. It comes exclusively in a seven-seat, front-wheel-drive configuration with a 2.0-liter petrol engine and Honda's two-motor hybrid system.

Honda Step Wgn Black Edition: Exterior Changes

The new Black Edition builds on the existing Step Wgn e:HEV Spada, adding dark-finished details to give the family minivan a more distinctive appearance. The exterior package includes black chrome-plated garnishes for the front grille, front and rear lower sections, side sills and tailgate.

The minivan also receives 16-inch aluminium alloy wheels finished in Berlina Black, accompanied by matching black wheel nuts. The door mirror covers are finished in Crystal Black Pearl. The outer door handles also receive this finish when the body colour is Sonic Gray Pearl or Meteoroid Gray Metallic.

Sonic Gray Pearl is an exclusive body colour for the Black Edition. Other available colours include Twilight Mist Black Pearl, Platinum White Pearl, Meteoroid Gray Metallic, Crystal Black Pearl and Premium Crystal Garnet Metallic.

Price and Specifications in Japan

Honda has announced a single configuration for the Step Wgn e:HEV Spada Black Edition. The model combines a 2.0-liter DOHC i-VTEC petrol engine with a two-motor hybrid system and an electrically controlled continuously variable transmission.

Specification Honda Step Wgn e:HEV Spada Black Edition
Engine 2.0-liter DOHC i-VTEC petrol engine
Hybrid System Two-motor hybrid system
Transmission Electrically controlled continuously variable transmission
Drivetrain Front-wheel drive (FF)
Seating Capacity 7 passengers
Japanese MSRP, Including 10% Consumption Tax ¥4,185,500
Sales Start Date October 16, 2026

The announced price is a manufacturer's suggested retail price for Japan. It excludes insurance, taxes other than consumption tax, registration-related expenses and the separately payable vehicle recycling fee. Dealers set their own selling prices, so the final purchase cost may differ.

Some paint options carry additional charges. Twilight Mist Black Pearl, Platinum White Pearl, Meteoroid Gray Metallic and Sonic Gray Pearl cost an additional ¥38,500, while Premium Crystal Garnet Metallic carries an additional charge of ¥60,500. These surcharges include consumption tax.

Interior Updates and Added Equipment

The cabin receives a piano-black steering wheel lower garnish and a dedicated Black Edition emblem. These details distinguish the special edition from the standard e:HEV Spada while retaining the practical layout of the existing Step Wgn.

Honda has also added several comfort and convenience features to the special edition. The equipment includes a multi-view camera system to assist with parking and manoeuvring, a rear exit support system, adaptive driving beam headlights and second-row seat heaters.

The minivan also gains LED lighting for the room lamps, sliding-door courtesy lamps and luggage compartment. These additions enhance everyday usability, particularly for families who regularly use the vehicle for passenger transport and longer journeys.

How the Black Edition Differs from the Standard Spada

The primary changes focus on appearance and equipment rather than a new powertrain. The black chrome exterior garnishes, Berlina Black wheels, selected black exterior components and dedicated interior detailing give the Black Edition its own identity.

The additional camera technology, adaptive headlights, second-row seat heaters and LED interior lighting also expand its equipment package. Honda has retained the established two-motor hybrid arrangement and front-wheel-drive layout, with seven seats as standard for this version.

Availability Outside Japan

Honda's announcement concerns the Japanese domestic market and confirms sales from October 16, 2026. The release does not announce availability or pricing for other countries, so an international launch should not be assumed.

AkulRide Verdict

The Honda Step Wgn e:HEV Spada Black Edition combines a darker exterior treatment with additional comfort and driver assistance equipment while retaining the existing 2.0-liter two-motor hybrid powertrain. Its seven-seat layout, front-wheel-drive configuration and range of colour options maintain the model's focus on family transport in Japan. With a starting price of ¥4,185,500 including consumption tax, the special edition offers buyers a more distinctive version of the Step Wgn e:HEV Spada without introducing a different powertrain. International availability remains unconfirmed.
